Recently, the whole length of the left dam of Laos Nam Ngum-4 Hydropower Station undertaken by China National Heavy Machinery Corporation achieved 1046 meters in design elevation.

The Laos Nam Ngum-4 Hydropower Station is a major collaboration project between Cambodia and China. The completion of this project will further strengthen the power generating capacity of Laos and improve the affiliated infrastructure building of power, which would be beneficial for Laos to achieve the goal of building the battery of Southeast Asia and the building of SINO-Laos Economic Corridor.

The installation capacity of Nam Ngum-4 Hydropower Station is 240 megawatt, which was designed to install three 80-megawatt mixed-flow water-turbine generators. The designed dam of the power station is roller compaction concrete gravity dam with ten dam sections, 1046 meters in dam crest, 972 meters in dam bottom and 74 meters in dam height. Started in October 2018, the project was finished within 26.5 months.

The sudden epidemic outbreak in 202 brought many obstacles to the construction of the dam in equipment, personnel and materials. Confronted with the difficulties, the project team of the Nam Ngum-4 Hydropower Station chose to strengthen communication and coordination with relevant members of Laos, taking active measures to ensure the progress of the project. With concerted efforts of all project members, the whole length of the left dam has been achieved in its designed elevation.
