On March 29th 2021, after 48-hour continuous pouring, the concrete of the intake tower of Laos Nam-Ngum-4 hydropower station was successfully completed, comprehensively reaching the designed elevation.
The intake tower was comprised of reinforced concrete structure with 1009.5-meter elevation of tower base, 1046-meter elevation of tower top and 36.5-meter of tower height. It took 434 days to complete the pouring. In the process, 10450 cubic meters of normal concrete pouring was accumulatively completed, with manufacturing and installation of 410 tons of reinforcement works.
The complexity of the intake power was compounded by the narrow construction site, alternating three-dimensional work and high-temperature work high above the ground. The project team kept segmenting its tasks and carrying out technical disclosure at each level amid its efforts in strict supervision in the pouring process, reasonable allocation of resources and implementation of field work management and control responsibility system. With unrelenting efforts, the project team of CHMC has achieved the goal of the desired elevation of the intake tower, laying a solid foundation for the prevention of floods in 2021.
